The XFL unveiled the return of the Houston Roughnecks in addition to the seven different groups that may partake within the league beginning in 2023.

All eight groups had been revealed Monday morning together with future rivals the Arlington Renegades and the San Antonio Brahmas.
In July, it was introduced that former NFL coach Wade Phillips could be the pinnacle coach of Houston’s new team for the XFL relaunch.
The 75-year-old Son of Bum final coached in 2019 for the Los Angeles Rams as their defensive coordinator.
The latest iteration of the XFL comes with a brand new co-owner as effectively. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson purchased the league in August 2020 after the COVID-19 pandemic ended the season after 5 weeks.
“Playing in the NFL was my goal and that didn’t happen,” Johnson said during the relaunch announcement. “The moment Dany (Garcia) said let’s buy the XFL, I thought, wow…what an incredible opportunity for us to create opportunities for players out there to live their dreams, live their passions and take care of their families.”
If you keep in mind the 2020 season, the Roughnecks began the season 5-0 earlier than the season was canceled.
Led by former SMU head coach June Jones, Houston was the one team to be undefeated through the transient relaunch of the league.
With the revival, the brand new Houston XFL team will nonetheless play video games on the University of Houston’s TDECU Stadium.
While video games can be performed in Houston, all XFL groups will reside and follow within the Dallas-Fort Worth space. Houston will follow at Choctaw Stadium, the previous house of the Texas Rangers.
The XFL kicks off one week after the Super Bowl on February 18 and can be broadcasted completely on ESPN.
