A lady is in custody after driving round and randomly firing gunshots towards homes in a west Bexar County neighborhood. Some of the bullets even went by the wall of a kid’s bed room, in accordance with Sheriff Javier Salazar.
The girl, recognized as 22-year-old Genesis Rodriguez, posted a video of the incident on her Instagram account and it went viral not too lengthy after. Salazar described the incident as “a drunken act of stupidity.”
“By God’s grace, no one was hurt or killed as a result of the stupidity,” the sheriff added.
The video and Rodriguez’s Instagram account have since been deleted.
However, a recording of the video offered by the sheriff’s office exhibits Rodriguez overtly firing gunshots out of her passenger window towards homes in the neighborhood because the automobile drove by.
Some of these bullets managed to undergo a wall of a kid’s bed room. Salazar mentioned the boy, believed to be round 10 years previous, was unhurt. It’s unknown if he was in the room at the time.
The night time earlier than the incident, Salazar mentioned deputies have been referred to as for photographs fired and an arrest was made. However, it’s too quickly to inform if that incident is linked to the shooting involving Rodriguez.
Deputies have been made conscious of the video on social media they usually have been in a position to establish Rodriguez.
On Friday, Salazar mentioned deputies obtained an arrest warrant and took Rodriguez into custody on two prices — lethal conduct with a firearm, a third-degree felony, and violation of a protecting order, a Class A misdemeanor.
Rodriguez has a legal historical past involving home violence, in accordance with Salazar.
“She’s been in the Bexar County Jail before and that’s where she finds herself again,” he mentioned.
There is one automobile in custody that’s linked to this case, and Salazar mentioned proof discovered in the automobile confirms the shooting occurred.
As of round 6 p.m. Friday, Salazar mentioned deputies have been executing a warrant on the town’s East Side, in the 4400 block of Pine Road. It’s unknown what’s been discovered as of but.
The driver of the automobile will not be in custody, although Salazar mentioned he “wouldn’t be surprised” if extra arrests have been made in this case.
