Video shows NYC dollar-store shoplifters putting worker in chokehold

A duo attempting to steal merchandise from a Bronx greenback retailer was caught on video putting a 23-year-old feminine worker in a chokehold final week — the third violent theft on the store in lower than a year.

“I was physically assaulted in front of people, and I had to defend myself in front of kids,” the shaken sufferer advised The Post on Sunday.

“I was scared to come back to work because they might know me,” the Westchester County resident, who requested to stay nameless out of worry for her security, stated of her attackers. “They can hurt me — I still work here.”

The incident occurred round 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, on the Family Dollar Store on Webster Avenue close to East 168th Street in Morrisania when an unidentified man and girl tried to depart the shop with a cart containing items, cops stated.

The worker stated she was watching the entire incident unfold on a safety digital camera and thought that the thieves would have gotten away with about $400 price of products if she didn’t intervene.

“They had cleaning stuff, tissues, everything. They had everything from inside the store,” she stated.

The worker stated that when she confronted the crooks, they fought her for his or her booty — and the feminine robber even choked her, video shows.

The assault was the third such violent incident on the low cost retailer since October, police stated.

In January, a sticky-fingered suspect used eye-stinging pepper spray on a worker who tried to cease them from leaving the shop with swiped items, cops stated.

Three months earlier, a person and a lady tried to steal garments and family merchandise from the shop. When a clerk intervened, the person slashed him with a box-cutter, cops stated.

Last week’s assaulted worker stated the shop doesn’t have common safety regardless of shoplifting there virtually day by day.

“We need some more security, and we need the strongest ones because this is getting worse,” she stated.

“The area is not good. We have a lot of [homeless] shelters here, and it’s the shelter people come in here [from] and steal stuff.”

Last week’s two thieves fled the situation with an unknown quantity of retailer merchandise, cops stated.

Meanwhile, the worker who confronted them sustained minor accidents and was handled by EMS on the scene.

The feminine thief is described as roughly 5’6” and 220 kilos together with her lengthy black hair in braids. She was final seen carrying a white t-shirt, black pants and black Adidas sandals.

The man is described as roughly 5’4” with a slim build, bald head and grey facial hair. He was final seen carrying a black baseball hat with a blue rim, a black t-shirt with a white Adidas brand on the entrance, black pants with white stripes on the legs and white sneakers.
