Authorities Announce Major Gang Crackdown In Queens, With 28 Arrests – CBS New York

Twenty eight alleged gang members in Queens have been charged after a two year investigation by the district legal professional’s office into rivalry between three warring gangs.

As CBS2’s Kiran Dhillon reviews, prosecutors say the 141 rely indictment stems from round 20 incident in Astoria and Long Island City.

All of them occurred within the Queensbridge and Ravenswood public housing developments.

Queens District Attorney (*28*) Katz introduced the fees Thursday morning which embody homicide, tried homicide and gun possession.

She says three rival gangs, Jet Blue, the Makk Ballers and Money the Motivation/Obligated to Money, have been at conflict over narcotics and turf in Queens for years.

The rivalries have resulted in an inflow in violence within the two housing developments, together with the brazen daylight capturing of George Rosa final summer time.

The faculty instructor was strolling his canine within the Queensbridge Houses when he was shot and killed by a keep bullet meant for a gang member.

This indictment features a cost for homicide within the second diploma in relation to Rosa’s loss of life.

The Queens DA says the investigation sends a transparent message to gang members in our metropolis.

“This is an amazing leap forward that should put every gang member in Queens on notice. If you are committing havoc on our streets and you are putting the public in harm’s way, we are going to find you, we are going to prosecute you,” stated Queens DA (*28*) Katz. “Folks are killing each other. They are shooting each other in broad daylight with innocent bystanders, and one triggers another act of violence that leads to several more.”

The DA says a mixture of surveillance video, ballistics proof and cooperation from the group helped play a task on this investigation.

The following folks face fees:

  • IKE FORD, 18, of Queens, has been charged with homicide within the second diploma and different crimes. If convicted, Ford faces as much as 25 years to life in jail.
  • DELANTE AIKEN, 19, of Queens, has been charged with homicide within the second diploma and different crimes. If convicted, Aiken faces as much as 25 years to life in jail.

Alleged members of the Makk Ballers road gang:

  • DEVON BATTLE, 25, of Queens, is charged with two counts of tried homicide and different crimes. If convicted, Battle faces as much as 25 years in jail.
  • MATUSIM CARTER, 26, of the Bronx, is charged with 4 counts of tried homicide and different crimes. If convicted, Carter faces as much as 25 years in jail.
  • MALIK HARRIS, 23, of Queens, is charged with tried homicide within the second diploma and different crimes. Ifconvicted, Harris faces as much as 25 years in jail.
  • JERRY DOUGLAS, 33, of Queens, is charged with conspiracy within the second diploma and different crimes. If convicted, Douglas faces as much as 25 years in jail.
  • TIMIA HODGES, 22, of Queens, is charged with tried homicide within the second diploma and different crimes. If convicted, Hodges faces as much as 25 years in jail.
  • TYREIK JACKSON, 35, of Queens, is charged with conspiracy within the second diploma and different crimes. If convicted, Jackson faces as much as 25 years in jail.
  • STEVEN JOHNSON, 20, of Queens, is charged with tried homicide within the second diploma and different crimes. If convicted, Johnson faces as much as 25 years in jail.
  • TYLER KING, 21, of Queens, is charged with tried homicide within the second diploma and different crimes. If convicted, King faces as much as 25 years in jail.
  • JAHI MAYS, 34, of Queens, is charged with conspiracy within the second diploma and different crimes. If convicted, Mays faces as much as 25 years in jail.
  • BILLY ROBINSON, 24, of Queens, is charged with tried homicide within the second diploma and different crimes. If convicted, Robinson faces as much as 25 years in jail.
  • MOHAMED SALEH, 35, of Queens, is charged with tried homicide within the second diploma and different crimes. If convicted, Saleh faces as much as 25 years in jail.
  • TYHEEM VALLES, 25, of Queens, is charged with tried homicide within the second diploma and different crimes. If convicted, Valles faces as much as 25 years in jail.
  • LESTER WILLIAMS, 29, of Queens, is charged with three counts of tried homicide within the second diploma and different crimes. If convicted, Williams faces as much as 25 years in jail.

Alleged Jet Blue gang members:

  • DONOVAN HARVEY, 23, of Queens, is charged with tried homicide within the second diploma and different crimes. If convicted, Harvey faces as much as 25 years in jail.
  • JAKYA JONES, 21, of Queens, is charged with tried homicide within the second diploma and different crimes. If convicted, Jones faces as much as 25 years in jail.

Alleged OTM/MTM gang members:

  • SHAHEID GIBSON, 27, of Queens, is charged with tried homicide within the second diploma and different crimes. If convicted, Gibson faces as much as 25 years in jail.
  • CHRISTIAN JONES, 22, of Queens, is charged with tried homicide within the second diploma and different crimes. If convicted, Jones faces as much as 25 years in jail.
  • SILAS ROSS, 27, of Queens, is charged with 4 counts of tried homicide within the second diploma and different crimes. If convicted, Ross faces as much as 25 years in jail.
