Two friends share horrifying experience of being carjacked in Homewood gas station; one suspect later jumped off bridge to escape

HOMEWOOD, Ill. (CBS) — Two males lately went on a carjacking spree in the south suburbs – first carjacking two different males, after which a lady with youngsters contained in the automobile.

“I’m still thinking about it – just a little traumatizing mentally,” Newson stated.

The carjackers stole their automobile and jumped on Interstate 80/94 towards Indiana. But police stated the thieves carjacked one other lady at gunpoint alongside the way in which.

They had been in two stolen automobiles as they headed east. Indiana State Police noticed the autos, and the lads led troopers on a chase all through Northwest Indiana.

“Our car ended up in Indiana on Cline,” Newson stated.

“I don’t care how much trouble I’m in – I’m not about to jump off no bridge,” Knight stated. “They didn’t care about anything, obviously.”

Indiana State Police did arrest the 2 carjackers – they’re 18- and 21-year-olds from Chicago.

The one who jumped off the bridge remained hospitalized as of Tuesday night.
