Local woman is longest-serving CASA volunteer in nation

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A Henderson woman is being acknowledged for her work advocating for abused and uncared for youngsters.  She is a court-appointed Special Advocate, often known as CASA.

Carolyn Muscari believes what’s most necessary in the world are folks and probably the most susceptible persons are youngsters. She stated her job is to advocate for his or her greatest curiosity and that’s what she has completed for the previous 4 many years.

She has shared her love with extra than simply her circle of relatives.

“I always tell everybody it is the best paying job I ever had, but not in money,” Muscari stated.

She’s been a CASA for 40 years.

“What we do is advocate for children in the foster care system who have been abused or neglected. We advocate for them in the court for what is in their best interest,” she stated.

She is the longest-serving CASA and due to that work the nationwide group acknowledged her at a ceremony in Seattle.

“When I heard about it, I was kind of blown away to tell you the truth,” Muscari stated. “There are 93,000 Court-Appointed Special Advocates nationwide and I have been the longest serving.”

For her, successful the award is bittersweet as a result of her husband of 57 years was her greatest supporter however he died some months in the past.
