Italian sailor navigates his way from Palermo to San Pedro in a dinghy – Daily News

A gaggle of well-wishers waved Italian and U.S. flags from a dock on the Port of Los Angeles on Monday, May 23, cheering as ocean journey crusing knowledgeable Sergio Davi ended a 10,000 nautical-mile journey from the Port of Palermo in Sicily.

“There he comes!” referred to as out Los Angeles City Councilman Joe Buscaino, who was joined by Italian Consul General Silvia Chiave. There was an impromptu track and hugs as Davi climbed off the dinghy, dwarfed by the mega cargo ships in the harbor.

His journey, which started on Dec. 15, marked Davi’s longest journey and the primary dinghy crossing from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. His spouse, Elena, was amongst these ready on shore and the 2 embraced as quickly as he disembarked.
