Dead man elected Chula Vista City Attorney

Chula Vista officers will now put together for a particular election estimated at $2M, since a man who died in September was elected to office.
CHULA VISTA, Calif. — Simon Silva, a longtime deputy within the City Attorney’s Office, who died in Sept. after a battle with most cancers, has been elected Chula Vista City Attorney.
Silva defeated his opponent Dan Smith, successful 51% of the vote, following the ultimate certification by the San Diego Registrar of Voters on Thursday.
Chula Vista officers will now put together for a particular election since a man who died was elected to office.
The seat for Chula Vista City Attorney shall be thought of vacant, and voters will return to the polls to vote in a particular election estimated at $2 million.
Following Silva’s dying in September, Chula Vista voters voiced issues over the potential of a pricey particular election.
Write-in candidates weren’t allowed for this race as a result of it was a runoff election between the 2 candidates that superior within the major. Silva, was a registered Democrat, and campaigned in opposition to registered Republican Dan Smith.
A date for the Special Election for Chula Vista City Attorney has but to be introduced by officers.
