CHP Plans ‘Maximum Enforcement Period’ During Thanksgiving Weekend

SAN DIEGO, CA — The California Highway Patrol shall be boosting its operations in San Diego County and all through the state in an effort to maintain roadways secure throughout Thanksgiving weekend.

The CHP’s “maximum enforcement period” is scheduled to run from 6:01 p.m. Wednesday till 11:59 p.m. Sunday. All accessible CHP officers shall be on obligation by way of the vacation weekend to search for impaired or distracted drivers, rushing motorists and other people not carrying seatbelts, in line with the state company.

“As with every holiday, the CHP will work to keep motorists safe as they travel to gatherings with friends and family,” CHP Commissioner Amanda Ray mentioned. “Our officers will be on patrol to take enforcement action as necessary and to provide assistance to motorists who are stranded or in need of help on the side of the road.”

According to the CHP, 42 folks, together with 16 pedestrians and one bicyclist, had been killed in crashes within the company’s jurisdiction through the 2021 Thanksgiving vacation weekend. During final year’s MEP marketing campaign, the CHP arrested 1,033 folks statewide on suspicion of driving drunk and/or medication and issued greater than 5,600 citations for velocity and seatbelt violations.
