CBS 2 Chicago wins four regional Edward R. Murrow Awards

CHICAGO (CBS)  — CBS 2 Chicago received four regional Edward R. Murrow awards.

CBS 2 was acknowledged for Excellence in Innovation, Hard News, Investigative Reporting and News Series. The awards had been introduced Tuesday by the Radio Television Digital News Association. 

The four winners will now compete within the nationwide Murrow competitors. Last year, CBS 2 was honored with the distinguished general excellence award. 

For the Excellence in Innovation class, the station received for protection of corroding gentle poles that had been falling and injuring residents. CBS 2 came upon poles all around the metropolis had been quietly corroding for years. The metropolis knew that, however failed to repair them, placing security in danger. 

In the Hard News class, CBS 2 was acknowledged for an interview with Marilyn Hartman, who, for almost 20 years, flew the world over, and not using a ticket. She grew to become America’s Serial Stowaway.

For Investigative Reporting, the station was honored for a narrative on how the state failed to guard a 10-year-old lady who was sexually abused by a number of males. 

In the News Series class, CBS 2 received for it is ongoing story of botched raids by Chicago police and the trauma inflicted on innocent people.
