Brightline train obliterates SUV abandoned on North Miami tracks

MIAMI – A girl and her kids abandon an SUV simply moments earlier than it is blown to items by a Brightline train. 

The collision occurred round 5 p.m. at a railroad crossing in North Miami.  The crash occurring simply days after a multimillion-dollar announcement from Brightline that they will be including security updates and additions to railroad crossings.

Witnesses say a girl was parked in between the downed gates and as she heard the train getting nearer, she and her youngsters hopped out and abandoned their SUV on the tracks.

“Boom! It was a boom noise.  It sounded like a bomb almost.”

The household contained in the SUV narrowly escaping this catastrophic crash.

“I thought someone got hit.”

The crash occurring on the intersection of Biscayne Boulevard and NE 141 Street. Jahu Moore works at a automotive dealership simply behind the railroad crossing.

“You could see the sirens coming towards the building,” he says.  “It was just like what was that where did that come from?  Everybody started moving towards the front to see what was going on.”

On Monday, Brightline introduced a $45,000,000 grant that can go in the direction of security enhancements spanning throughout seven counties from Miami-Dade to Brevard.  Poles shall be positioned at crossings so vehicles cannot go across the gates.  There shall be 33 miles of fencing to cease individuals from crossing the tracks and a whole bunch of warnings and suicide disaster hotline indicators shall be put up.

“It’s like a three way stop so maybe she was rushing to try and make that turn but she couldn’t because there was probably a car in front of her or something like that so she got stuck in the tracks,” says Moore.

A member of the family, who wasn’t there when the collision occurred, got here to the scene to gather particles. 

He says he does not know why the SUV was parked on the monitor however he is grateful tonight that his household wasn’t harm.

The Brightline security enchancment needs to be full by subsequent year.
